After news broke out in recent days that Liverpool may be interested in signing 21-year-old attacking midfielder, Thomas Lamar from Monaco, Arsenal will now step up their pursuit of the France international.
Arsenal have been linked to the player since the start of the transfer window but a difference in valuation by the Gunners and his club has proved to be a major stumbling block. The Sun reports that Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager may be willing to sign the left footed player to replace Philippe Coutinho, as it is looking increasingly likely that the Brazilian playmaker will make the switch to Barcelona to replace Neymar.
The future of star player, Alexis Sanchez is still up for question meaning that Arsenal are looking at a potential replacement as the Chilean international has set his sights on leaving the Emirates Stadium, after the club failed to reach the Champions league for next season.
Arsenal have had two bids rejected for his services, and Monaco have reiterated their stance not to allow any of their star players leave since the likes of Bakayoko, Bernado Silva and Benjamin Mendy left the club. however, the same report from the Sun states that the Gunners are quite sure Lemar would make a switch to north London despite interest from Premier League rivals, Liverpool
Lemar is a classy, left footed player that has earned praise for his amazing creativity, finishing and vision. He was a key component of Monaco’s stunning team of last term, as the principality club won the Ligue 1 ahead of a more fancied PSG side, and reached the Champions League semifinals, playing a very attractive brand of football in Europe. In 55 appearances last term, he scored 14 goals and created a further 17 as Leonardo Jardim’s men won a first league title in 17 years.
