Arsenal ready to shatter wage structure to secure deal for Chilean forward

Arsenal are ready to break the bank and make Alexis Sanchez the highest paid player in the Premier League by offering him a lucrative deal worth £300,000 per week, reports the Evening Standard.

The Chilean international has stalled on signing a new contract, with the club’s hierarchy previously reluctant to meet his wage demand.

It was widely reported in the English media that the forward had demanded for 100 per cent increase on his current wage of £130,000 a week, to put him on the same level with Premier League top earners.

Well it now appears Arsenal are finally ready to let go of the club wage structure to keep hold of the club star man by offering him even more than double his current wage.

Due to the breakdown in contract talks which has dragged on since last summer and was postponed till the coming summer, Sanchez, whose contract expires in 2018, has been strongly linked with a number of top clubs across Europe, including Premier League rivals Chelsea and Man City.

But it is understood that Arsenal would not want a repeat of Robin Van Persie’s case but they will listen to offers from interested club should Sanchez refused to accept their own offer.

An offer in the range of £50 million may tempt Arsenal to sell him with Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Man City ready to go head-to-head for his signature.

The 28-year-old is yet to respond to the new deal but he is understood to be happy in London.

Though Sanchez’s form has dropped recently, he has scored 18 goals and assisted another nine this season, and has been nominated for the PFA player of the year award.

It is equally reported that Mesut Ozil who earns £140,000 would be offered a similar deal. His contract also expires next summer.
