Arsenal may have made their worst start to a Premier League season, but they have a glorious opportunity to get things back on track against Blackburn at Ewood park this weekend.
Rovers have won just have won just one of their last 10 Premier League games against Arsene Wenger’s men, and just one of their last nine Premier League matches at home.
They have also lost nine times in the Premier League at home to Arsenal – more than against any other opponent on their own patch.
Under normal circumstances Arsenal would be long-odds on to come away with three points, so the fact that they can be backed at just under even money respresents real value against a side who have also made their worst start ever to a PL campaign.
The home side have managed just one point from four games, and lack the cutting edge up front that Arsenal have in the shape of Robin van Persie and Andrey Arshavin.
Both van Persie and Arshavin seem to relish playing against Blackburn, and are a must for those playing in the first goalscorer markets.
The Dutchman has scored eight goals in 10 Premier League games against Rovers, and is a top priced 5.4 with Victor Chandler to net the opener.
The Russian has scored three goals in five Premier League appearances against Blackburn and that impressive strike rate marks him out as real value to get his name on the scoresheet first and set up an Arsenal victory.
The game itself is likely to be a scrappy affair, but Arsenal’s cutting edge in front of goal should see them emerge comfortable winners. I can’t see Blackburn scoring, so it’s just a case of how many we Arsenal can put past Paul Robinson.
