Henry sees success for Arsenal next season
I thought I would do a quick round-up of news before moving onto the important issue of tonight’s FA Cup Final between Manchester United (boo!) and Chelsea (boo!).
Firstly, Thierry Henry has commented on his disappointment with the previous season but believes that Arsenal have every chance to come back and win the title next time around.
“We’ve been here before and we’ve come out on top before. What comes around goes around. Manchester United have won the Premiership this year but who would have said that they wouldn’t win it for three years in a row?”
I have to say that I agree with Henry – there were very few people who expected Manchester United to take the title off Chelsea before the start of last season and I see Arsenal in a very similar position. There are important players to come back from injury and perhaps more importantly, the side will be more used to playing at home at Emirates Stadium.
In other news, Bordeaux midfielder Rio Mavuba has said that he has received a “super offer” from a big club and is considering leaving the Ligue 1. Whether or not this offer has come from Arsenal is speculative, but the club have been linked to Mavuba in the past.
Wenger tips Manchester United in FA Cup Final
Arsene Wenger has tipped Manchester United in tonight’s FA Cup final – indicating that their superior self-belief to win the double will give them the edge over rivals Chelsea.
“I think Manchester United have a psychological advantage. They are on a high and can do the double. I was twice in a situation where we could do the double. Both times I felt we did not have an outstanding game but the fact that we were on a winning streak just pushed us through.”
Spanish Fry tips Chelsea in FA Cup Final
I have to say that although I see where Wenger is coming from I believe it will be Chelsea and not Manchester United who will be lifting the FA Cup tonight. Why, you ask? I’m not entirely sure – I just have a feeling. I think Chelsea will be so disappointed about their season and that Jose Mourinho’s side will be so determined to put one up over Manchester United that they will really rip into the Alex Ferguson’s side. From an Arsenal perspective it will be quite hard to enjoy this game. I really would prefer either side to lose and will desperately hoping for some serious injuries to key players (only joking).
Baring all that in mind I’m predicting a 2-1 win to Chelsea and some tears from Cristiano Ronaldo at the end. If you are after a more detailed preview of the game check out Jon Carter’s one over at ESPN Soccernet.
