Could a dog play for Arsenal?

A very quick update before the Premiership clash with Aston Villa.

Cesc Fabregas is definitely out of the match but Gael Clichy and Alexander Hleb will travel with the team, but face late fitness tests ahead of Saturday afternoon. The likely outcome is that both will miss out. As expected, both Robin van Persie and Abou Diaby will still be out with long-term injuries.

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has praised the quality of the referees in the Premiership and Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill has backed Wenger’s policy of signing young foreign players. Can’t you just feel the love in the lead-up to the big game?

Finally today, Wenger has spoken about the possibility of bringing in a central defender to cope with the absence of Kolo Toure during the African Cup of Nations. Quite frankly, I’d be happy just to have Johan Djourou back but if Wenger did dip into the transfer market then he could do worse than Werder Bremen’s Naldo, as suggested by Stan in Thursday’s post.

Then again, he could go for the little fella in the video below. He seems to have quite a nice touch and a lovely burst of speed. Pity about the lack of pants…

He kind of dribbles like Hleb, doesn’t he? Cheers to Tom for sending me the clip. If anyone else finds some great stuff on the net then please, send it to me and I’ll whack it onto the blog. Cheers.

Have a good one all and enjoy the game wherever you’re watching it. If you’re after a match preview then check out yesterday’s post. Go Arsenal!

AW please break the piggy bank and buy Micah Richards! He can plays center & right back which perfectly cover both Toure & Eboue (assume Eboue is second choice on the right back).

Come on… I already promoting Micah Richards for 2 seasons now. Please full fill my dream, Mr. Wenger!!!!!!!!!!

I believe the dog could slip in well in to the midfield in place of the injured Fabregas. With his enthusiasm and stamina and clearly good dribbling skills, he would need some practice in front of goals, but he could also fit in well on the left flank. Maybe they could replace Senderos with him, It’d probably help.

Last season, Arsenal were ctitised for not getting enough points in scrappy encouters. Although the Villa game was not really scrappy, we digged and digged and held on for the win. If we win our game in hand agaisnt Newcastle on Wednesday then I will say. Arsenal – Champions!

wow, i think this was a fantastic win. for a few reasons. firstly aston villa have been in some shit-hot form as of late, and just about any side in the league could have dropped points againts them. Secondly this is the sort of team arsenal cameoff with erratic results last sason, so a win is fantasitc. jeah!

yh i agree. The form of Villa over recent matches made the outcome of the match even harder to tell. In the west ham – chelsea game did anyone notice that John terry bit Luis Boa Morte’s thumb. Those green laser pens aswell, the fans kept shinin them in Drogba and Lampard’s eyes.

A fantastic result. There will be a match report tomorrow, as per usual. Jay, I didn’t notice Terry biting Boa Morte’s thumb; when did this happen?
