Forget Vardy and Mahrez, Arsenal might have unearthed a more devastating partnership than last season’s Darlings

The games now seem to be coming thick and fast at the Emirates this season, as Arsenal once again prepare to light up the Grove, when Bulgarian side, Ludogorets visit tonight.

Following four consecutive victories in all competitions on home soil for The Gunners, there’s every season to feel confident about edging the First League side, who aside having a strong Brazilian contingent, are also enjoying a rich vein of domestic form, albeit not recording more than the one European point picked up at Swiss ground, Basel back on UCL Matchday One.

For Arsenal, the 2-0 win picked up over FC Basel last month saw Arsène’s side produce a scintillating display, and two-goal Swansea hero, Theo Walcott will look to follow up his second brace in the Champions League with another lively performance, aided of course by the glowing partnership with Alexis Sanchez.

With both forwards currently at a statement age (27) for strikers and currently playing in great tandem, their admirable alliance in starting on the front foot have been key to The Arsenal starting the season in such progressive fashion, especially at the Emirates.

There’s been an evident smoothness to how these two approach games on the sleek home turf and both look to be turning up in just about every game. On the evidence of this, it’s not too optimistic to expect both to maintain their impressive partnership throughout the season and achieve finally dragging the team over the line from a goal producing perspective, much like last season’s innovative and clinical partnership of Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy respectively, who took Leicester City to Premier League dreamland last season, providing the reality of participating in this season’s Champions League in the process.

Having struggled with two long term injuries in the last couple of years as well as a deep in form in the same period, Theo’s enjoying an extended two-month purple patch that has eluded him since the start of the 2012/2013 campaign, with his seven goals THIS season matching the same tally racked up around the same time, four years back. Like we saw in that season, the English International looks likely to score in every game, and should have bagged his 2016 Premier League hat-trick on Saturday.

The last time the Arsenal current top scorer hit a treble – May 2015, there were claims he was playing for a new contract and this reason was also given for his unprecedented 21 goals recorded in 2012/2013. Now undoubtedly fighting for something other than a fat pay cheque, staking a perfectly poised claim to finally get a World Cup call-up can only be backed up by a remarkable run of consistency for Club and country, with such potential reward only turning out as a win win scenario for his domestic employers.

Following up from Swansea.

Arsenal almost made a mess of a spirited outing against a Swansea side they hadn’t beaten in the League at the Emirates since September 2011, but thanks to another Ozil burst from yet another Alexis cross, we got the job done despite having to finish the game with ten men, after Granit Xhaka’s inexplicable/heroic foul (issue for another day) on Modou Barrow.

The Alexis-Ozil chemistry produced yet again and at this rate, it’s safe to say the German is on a realistic course to hit double figures this time. No pressure, Mesut!

Here’s hoping we produce a display similar to the Basel and Chelsea games and do without the uncertainty in spells experienced against the likes Southampton and Swansea.
