Stats – what Arsenal’s season would have looked like without Sanchez

The clamour for Arsene Wenger to either resign or be sacked is no longer new. The call for his replacement at Arsenal has been on for quite some time now but it got intensified last season.

Despite Arsenal many flaws this season, Alexis Sanchez has stood out and his contributions, not just in goals and assists, to the team has been immense that they cannot be swept under the carpet his recent attitude notwithstanding.Their 3-1 loss to West Brom – which was their fourth defeat in five league games- and Man United win by the same score-line at Middlesbrough have pushed them to the sixth place and two points behind the Red Devils, their lowest position in ten years, making qualification for Champion League next season even more difficult.

He has been involved in 32 goals across all competitions, including twelve assists, for the Gunners this campaign, 18 of which are scored in the Premier League.  The Chilean international has contributed 30.1% of Arsenal’s league goals this season. His 18 league goals have earned the Gunners seven – 14% – of their 50 points.  His assists inclusive, Sanchez have been directly involved in 47.3% of Arsenal’s league goals, Per Squawka.

Taking his goals and assists into accounts, the former Barcelona forward contributions have won Arsenal 13 points, meaning he has been involved in 26% of Arsenal’s points total this season.  He has also created 64 chances and made 55 key passes more than any Arsenal player.

The above stats show how important he is to the Emirates outfits. However, his future at the club is uncertain and may likely leave at the end of the season with Juventus and PSG interested in his services.
