AFCB’s new tactics guru Andrew Enloe gets the chalkboards out for the very first edition of ‘The Short Corner’… In the world of Arsenal blogging, it seems the tactical side gets put on the back burner with most articles focused on team spirit and Arsene Wenger’s much-vaunted “mental strength.” This has its place of course, [...]

Arsenal came from behind twice to salvage a 2-2 draw with impressive Everton in the driving snow at Emirates Stadium. Denilson and Tomas Rosicky grabbed the goals for Arsenal – the latter coming in the 92nd minute – and you can see both of those plus extended highlights in the video below (LINK): Arsenal v [...]

I’m not sure how happy Arsene Wenger will be about this but both Abou Diaby and Denilson have been talking up how much they’d love to play in next year’s World Cup in South Africa. In-form Diaby has said making the World Cup is a big aim of his and he will “do everything to [...]

If someone had offered you a 3-0 win for Arsenal over Hull you would have bitten his hand off. If someone had offered you a 3-0 win for Arsenal over Hull with Denilson scoring a peach of a free-kick, Eduardo getting a much-needed goal, Abou Diaby starring as Man of the Match and getting an [...]

It’s Friday night right now in Brisbane and not for the first time this week I have to be super-quick. Here’s a quick round-up of things going on involving Arsenal in the last two days: Arsenal have decided to contest the two-game ban handed out to Eduardo for diving. While it is certainly to be [...]

Good morning to you all from a fairly chilly Brisbane. No alcoholic beverages to be found near me today, just a piping hot green tea and some Vegemite and butter on toast to keep me company. In Saturday’s post the idea was raised by regular commenter ‘Old Timer’ to open up a bit of a [...]

Today is the third in a series of posts reviewing Arsenal’s 2008/09 season. Last week I reviewed the performances of our goalkeepers and defenders over the course of the season and today it’s the midfielders turn. Enjoy, and be sure to let me know what you think at the end by commenting. Wenger’s gamble When Mathieu Flamini, [...]

Hello again – hope you’re doing well. It was quite a day on the blog yesterday as many, many people had their say on everything from the possibility of Arsenal finishing fifth to Arsene Wenger’s team selections to the effectiveness of the Song/Denilson midfield partnership. It was an excellent debate, perhaps the best that this [...]

Before I get labeled as a hopeless optimist and someone who doesn’t want to face the very real possibility of Arsenal finishing fifth, let me just say that Saturday’s game against Sunderland frustrated me immensely. It was another game without a goal, another missed opportunity and another painful exhibition of what we lack in the centre [...]

What a weird game that was. 1-0 down after as poor a 45 minutes as as we’ve seen all season, yet a couple of changes in personnel and a huge shift in attitude saw Arsenal run out 3-1 winners after goals from Samir Nasri, Robin van Persie and substitute Theo Walcott. Arsene Wenger’s team selection for this match was absolutely baffling. [...]

Well, wasn’t that just an absolutely stupendous weekend? I thought Liverpool and Chelsea would both win but after the pair failed to take maximum points and Arsenal served up a 3-1 victory over Bolton it is our boys who sit on top of the league. And don’t they just deserve it? The performance against Bolton [...]

Arsenal begin their season tonight in Holland with the first leg of their Champions League qualifier against FC Twente.  Unfortunately they will do so under quite a hefty injury cloud. Indeed, Arsene Wenger has revealed that Arsenal are without Abou Diaby, Samir Nasri, Kolo Toure, Philippe Senderos and Cesc Fabregas as well as long-term casualties Tomas [...]

Hello again from a very sunny Brisbane - I hope you had an excellent weekend. Just a quick round-up of the Amsterdam Tournament to go through today before I move on to more important matters. As most of you will know by now Arsenal competed in – and won – the Amsterdam Pre-Season Tournament over the weekend. Arsene [...]

There is a lot of Arsenal news for me to catch up on since last Thursday so bear with me while I get through it all. First up is the 10-2 demolition of Burgenland XI – the side with the strangest and funniest name since Grasshopper-Club from Zürich. Nicklas Bendtner scored four (yes, four), Carlos [...]
