Top four miss could affect Arsenal summer transfers

A frustrating summer in the transfer window looms if Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions League. With four matches remaining for the Gunners to play, the chances of achieving a top four finish in the Premier League this season hang by a thread and our absence in Europe next season could see us miss out on our top transfer targets.

Arsenal are in the sixth position on the league standings and sixth points off the fourth place. The much needed win over Manchester United today has brought back some glimmer of hope. We’ll be hoping that Liverpool and Man City to drop points in other to boost our chances of securing Champions League qualification.

Arsenal have featured in the Europe top tier competition consecutively since the arrival of Arsene Wenger in 1996 but have been eliminated at the round of 16 stage in the last seven seasons.

Poor performances, poor results, lack of confidence, complacency have all contributed to Arsenal bad season and the price to pay for that is a potential absence in Europe next season which in turn may lead to missing out on our top transfer targets.

Arsenal have been linked with the likes of Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, Monaco teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe, Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk among others.

Arsene Wenger is convinced the club can still attract top players without European football.  But it is obvious they will only make the move to the Emirates Stadium if there is an assurance of Champions League football next season.

Kylian Mbappe has reportedly agreed to join Real Madrid while Lacazette has claimed he would only move to a Champions League club. It is left to see if Arsenal can still make a statement in the transfer market without Champions League football.

  1. Arsenal is big name already! We just need William Cavalho on the midfield! And one good striker and one attacking midfielder to replace Ozil and Sanchez. Forget about Mbape Wenger always brings unknown player to be the best! Like Rob Holding.! Sanchez was just sitting on the bench in Barcelona.
