    ridiculously good player

just brilliant. he’s the best defensive signing wenger has ever made and if he continues on such form would rank as surely his best signing since fabregas

arshavin is amazing but temperamental and unpredictable. you know what you will get with tommy and it’s top class play, combined with consistency and fantastic workrate and attitude. top class, really

Just world class Defender signing by Prof. Wenger ever.

The guy is spot on esp. the corner kick sandwiched by four players of Wigan and still deliver it in the net superbly.

    AMAZING!!!!!

His passing is very good. And he is extra diligent in his tackling. Fantastic new boy. I can boogie with him.

thomas the tank is fastly becoming my favourite player,at the moment that honour goes to arshavin, what i love about tommy is his passion, distribution, calmness, timing in the tackle, and aerial ability and from what i,ve seen so far is already a crowd favourite and one of the first names on the team sheet. the first goal was a truly wonderful leap to beat 4 wigan players and a magnificent header, the second goal was struck with swerve and accuracy…brilliant strike and i say long may it continue.cheers for that andy, great stuff.

    @ Alvares,

The best buy of the season?

That’s faint praise as he’s the ONLY buy of the season!

In my mind there is no doubt that Thomas Vermaelen is the best Arsenal buy for several seasons, he makes the purchase of Sylvestre look a total waste of money.

When you consider how much Man. City spent on Toure and Lescott you begin to realise just what a genius Wenger is.

Must agree with you all Thomas the Tommygun Vermaelen is look the type of player the team has been crying out for. He has the skill but more importantly he has the physical drive necessary to propell a team forward. It would be fantastic if Wenger was to purchase two others of the same stature to help the midfield and forwards during the next transfer window. But please, note the second season in the prem is normally more difficult so lets not get our expections to high.

who would you rather start with walcott or rosy for me i would rather the little czech starting and walcott comin on as an impact sub.

It would be nice to have the choice at some point this season, anyone heard any updates about walcotts injury

It’s great how much positivity the performances of Vermaelen are bringing to Arsenal fans and this community in particular. There are not enough no-nonsense, hard-working and talented players around and Vermaelen’s example has shown just how easy it is to become a fan favourite if you have the right sort of attitude.

What odds on him finishing the season as Golden Boot though? 😛

@ henrykissinher – To my knowledge both Arshavin and Walcott will be back this weekend. I doubt either of them will start but if we need a goal we’ll certainly have some attacking threats on the bench.

@ georgetown – You’re most welcome, I’m going to share more little tidbits and videos more often to go with my usual daily posts. I think it adds a little bit of fun, you know?

The question is… can Vermaelen be our striker and… Bendtner, Eduardo or van Persie can be our defenders? I think that those ones would be poor defenders, while Tommy would be a serious threat for the opposite teams…We need more strike power, for now our defence is quite good.

Truly i felt Vermaelen like a striker when he did that finish against wigan on that day with his left foot.Cool and sharp.

    Great video Andy, cheers.

That video particularly highlights his incredible passing ability.

    Kolo who?

Vermaelen has become the fans favorite, i remember when being brought in by Prof. some were not convinced they wanted a big, muscular, tall defender e.g. Naldo but currently nobody thinks of that. He is amazing he now brings the threat we need for our opponents, every body waits for arsenal to rotate around the box but if defenders and midfielders shoot from outside opponents will always rush to close them down giving chances for our strikers to score. Vama is the best

he really doesn’t look like 23, neither of his appearance nor his behaviour, I mean he seems to be very self-confident and sure of himself, impressive, (o.k. no wonder, after this great start at Arsenal), but mentionable

some soccer fanatics thought by laying off kolo toure,it was the worst mistake as regards wengers defence-they claimed he had experience, ooops varmaleen is superb, compare his score rate at arsenal and that of kolo toure at man city?
i dont remember the last time we had toure playing!!

Thomas can even play as a striker but still noot enought because if you begin to see the strikingline of Arsenal you will see a lot missing
This bringto the extend of saying that Wenger should add more player simply his greatness should remain great

@ANDY – There goes FRASTER…notice his comments about FIREPOWER? Seems to echo my pre-season comments right?

I mean if were back in winning ways and someone says we still need strikers says a lot about them, doesn’t it?
