Wenger thinks our squad is strong enough – do you? + Goals of the Season video

A very good day to you all. I hope you’re all recharged from the weekend and ready to face another week of whatever it is that you do. I know I am.

I’ll start today’s post with some comments from Arsene Wenger. Speaking about the exit of Emmanuel Adebayor and the impact it may have on Arsenal next season, the manager made the bold declaration that he believes our current squad will be good enough to succeed this year without any additions. In his own words he said:

“Big clubs lose big players. AC Milan have lost Kaka but will go on. Arsenal have lost big players before but we go on. I believe we have a strong enough squad to meet the targets we have.”

His comments about big teams losing big players is spot on and while I also agree that we have a strong enough squad to win something next season I still think it would be missed opportunity if we didn’t invest in a central midfielder. I’m not of the opinion that we need a striker to replace Adebayor – I think the multitude of striking options we have will take care of that – but I still think bringing in another central midfielder to help out Alex Song and Denilson is the way to go.

Other than that I think we’re looking very strong. I can’t really see us losing any more players before the season starts – no players that we need, anyway – and with big players like Tomas Rosicky and Eduardo back in contention this squad has, in my opinion, the most depth of any Arsenal squad since The Invincibles. All that’s lacking is another quality player in central midfielder and then we would have arguably the best squad in the Premiership, particularly given Manchester United’s losses and the fact that neither Liverpool nor Chelsea have strengthened significantly.

That’s my opinion, anyway, but I’d love to hear yours. Do you think Wenger is right or do you think we still need an addition or two to challenge for the top honours next season? Let me know in the comments.

Moving on and although it’s not Arsenal-related, I thought I’d share with you a superb ‘Goals of the Season’ video I found earlier today. The clip features 77 brilliant goals from all around the world from last season and is made even better by the fact that David Bentley’s goal against us is nowhere to be seen. Check it out below (LINK):

And on that note I’ll leave it there for today.

At this stage I don’t have anyone contributing a guest post for tomorrow so if anyone is interested in doing one up before tomorrow or for next week, be sure to get in touch via Twitter or Facebook to let me know.

Cheers and enjoy a fine start to the week.

  1. I think this is the same story we have heard every season since the invincibles and what does he have to show for it? Fabregas has been crying for a midfield partner since Flamini left. It has been proven time and time again that Rosisky and Van Persie can not be relied upon to be fit the whole season, it is not certain how it will pan out with Eduardo. Strong enough? well, we’ve heard the song before.

  2. Good points I agree with, but I also think that if we add one more central defender who can understand the others will be ok. I don’t disagree when you see we need a quality holding midfielder, but I think a quality central midfielder who’s better than Song/Deni will be very expensive and will demand a big salary. Also, I don’t see any really quality midfielder in European Leagues.

  3. Some fantastic goals there Spanish. I agree that we should surely be going after a DM now with the Adebayor money. I think with Ade leaving Arsene is planning to change formation and accommodate Arshavin, Nasri and Walcott in supporting a lone striker. The attacking roles will be more or less interchangeable. I personally feel a Barca 4-3-3 would be the best way to go but I think ours will turn out be a 4-2-3-1 as tested out towards the end of last season.

Melo was clearly Arsene’s target for central midfield but with him leaving for Juve, I do wonder with Arsene will sign someone he believes to be not of the same quality. Of course, he is armed with greater resources now but what central midfielders would be viable options in that top bracket right now?

Finding a top-drawer DM who is a)willing to leave his current club
b)at a club willing to sell
is going to be a tall order.

  4. I think we need a good DM before we can start talking about challanging for trophies. And i dont think some of the lads are ready to be thrown in the deepend yet so a replacement for Ade is needed imo.

  5. But something in me thinks chelscum are going to be really strong this year as apart from terry to man citeh they have been left alone by the tabloids and one player I really wanted to go was drogba as I hate the bastard sooooo much as he ALWAYS seems to bloody score against us and I’m sick of it.
At least ronaldos gone so thats another player I really hate watching with all the diving and winking bollocks. Back to something arsenal related I think ro-sicky and dudu will be a awesome partnership plus arsharvin and vela (it will be this lads year) we have the players to tear defences apart and sharva is going to be he man we needed to unlock a defense like the great henry as we all know what he did against luckpool plus a full preseason under his belt he should be really fit and rareing to go. My main concern is now if this lot come on nasri might be left behind but he looked so fatigued in the second half of the season he might be one of those players a’la hleb brilliant in big games but invisible in little games.

  6. I think we will be okay without Ade. RVP, Eduardo, Nik, Arshavin, Vela is plenty enough.

Plus I think Wenger might play a lone striker this season.

  7. Ithink i agree with most of of arsenal funs that, we just need one mid, and if kolo goes we shall need adefander.

But, if not the team is very strong.

    Good day, guys.

  8. @ TDP / Osman – You guys both make really good points about how difficult it’s going to be to find a central midfielder of quality. They don’t just grow on trees, but I still think we need another body in that position to take the pressure of Song and Denilson.

Where it comes from, who know?

  9. Well Folks it’s a bright sunny morning here in Norfolk and as we are only 120 odd miles from Lords I’m looking forward to a tense final day in the second test, and as it’s a rest day in the Tour de France I can concentrate on watching England beat the Aussies at this famous ground for the first time in 70 something years.

I know, I know, this is a football website, but as there is really nothing more to be said about Adebayawn’s departure there’s not much point in rehashing old arguments about what Wenger should or shouldn’t do.

Believe nothing you read in the tabloids, disbelieve everything else untill you read it on the club’s official website and trust in Arsene, he knows!

  10. I think I know where @Dave is coming from … frustration. AW typically plays cards close to the chest which is wise but v frustrating at the moment as he is NOT giving any real indication that he is going to get another defensive player in. I’m choosing to keep the faith for now but I will be SO PISSED OFF if he doesn’t land someone in the next 3 weeks. Like the sound of Hangeland coming from Fulham with Senderos going the other way. Also interest that rumours of Martins from N’Castle are back on. So, REALLY hoping AW brings in another defensive player and then we will know he means business. Otherwise he is confirming he is in denial and this will send the wrong message to Cesc and others who I’m sure have made their feelings known. They need more protection. AW, you listening?

  11. Excellent article and couldn’t agree more with finding a midfielder as opposed to a striker!
It’s about getting the right midfielder though, i know alot of fans who would just be appeased to get anyone, but i personally think it’s far worse to sign a flop than sign nobody. I don’t believe Flamini is the answer either, he pretty much burnt his bridge when he left us on a free!

  12. @ SF – Inler and Toulalan are both willing to leave their clubs and both Udinese and Lyon said they will sell if the price is right (£15m). There are countless others we could go for (Veloso, Cana, Hitzlspurger, Aquilani etc). All we have to do is make a bid, its not the hardest thing in the world.

  13. i dnt understand wenger sometimes, saying we strong enough wot the hell, its a must he replaces adebayor,we (arsenal) not really guarenteed that rosicky and eduardo/v persie gonna b fit majority of the season include theo with his shoulder problem, theo walcot aint that good either witout his pace his rubbish he cant cross he cant dribble, apperantly mancity will probably come in for toure, wot are we, are we a selling club or wot this is a joke its depressing

  14. @Dave – we would never be 4th in the EPL without WENGER, better believe now if u’ve been having doubts.

I dont even know where we need to bolster in this club right now, but I know we need to win the EPL atleast.

I still believe SONG should be allowed to mature just like FLAMINI was allowed to. We should concentrate on CREATING and SCORING goals. I dont know what anyone else thinks…

  15. I agree with u gibbs, there are a lot of midfielders ready to join arsenal if only AW can make a bid

  16. He’s obviously overpaid and underskilled. He should go and sit on the City bench, where he belongs. That’s where he can be paid without having to work hard and spend the time reflecting on how overrated he is in his own eyes. He’ll be behind Robinho, Santa Cruz and Tevez in pecking order. He is not even half of any of these strikers except in height

  17. if we could keep van persie nd eddie nd wallcott fit nd we dnt another center forward bt there get injurs year in year out nd bendter nt quite there yet arshavin is the only 1 who can step and get the job done

  18. I for one would be very surprised if Arsene knowing the way he is Spends any money on other players and i think he has hinted so already referring to being overstocked with forward players, How many of them are over six foot, does he think that height doesn’t matter of is it that players over six foot cost too much ( more than 10 million)apart from Van persie and bendtner all our fowards are small guys which docen’t bode well for the lone striker role and anyway none them did it as well as Adebayor did,I am also one who no longer trusts Wenger in the last 6 years he has made Arsenal toothless tigers and alot less attractive as a destination for top players and i have no confidence in the team winning anything this season because believe it or not we are weaker than we were last season, which if i had said would be the case no one would of believed.

  19. Please sell Sylvester and buy a striker. Use Adebayor’s money to buy a DM.

Am so glad he left finally.

Am a strong supporter of Rosisky and i am praying for a continued fitness

  20. thanks ROB,,,,,,wel said,,,,,it’s the same old………he has been telling his tales since the invincibles……we don’t deny we moved on..but with no trophies….and spanishfrey….do u really believe that either eduardo or rosicky will be fit enough for the next season??? remember the boss was telling this before starting all seasons since 2005….but he won nothing…he is still saying the same……me i don’t belive this squad is enough!!

  21. I dont beleive arnsl strikers are strong enough. What ever one thinks about Ade he had some experience and arsnl are very short in that departm’t. As for midfield, the only true DM Arsnl have is song, all the others are to lite weight and are really just creative players. How about playing Toure as a DM with Song and use Fabs Diaby and Nasri to create. Young Theo is nothing but a possible striker. Providing he beats the offside trap, his pace should get him many goals. I dont see Arsen’s job as that difficult as long as he promotes a different type of player who can combat the English style of play. There are many english players out there who can break things up and give the ball to one of the creative players who make things happen.

  22. Gunnerboss, none of those players have scored as many goals as Ade in the last two seasons. Why so personal? Maybe, if your correct Arsene does not know. What does that mean anyway!

  23. True say, realist. Within the first ten games of the season that nasty taist will return in everyones mouth. Wenger will utter the usual words of The team gave their all, i believe we showed quality and good spirit, i did not see it, im disappointed but i believe we controlled the game but did not take our chances. We will continue to work hard on the training field.

  24. @ theicehammer – Why don’t we just wait and see mate? There’s no need to start bagging out Wenger at this stage of the season. No-one is getting ahead of ourselves, we’re just excited about the new season and hold the hope that we will do well. Nothing wrong with that.

I have no problem with supporters of other blogs commenting on her – in fact I really like the contrast – but there’s not too much point if you’re just going to pay out the team. What value are people getting from that?

  25. I am amazed by the comments made on this topic. Its fine if some do not trust Wenger but why to the extent of resentment to the club.

Chill lads, pre season has not even started yet. The strikers we have are good enough to do the job, undermining the size of our strikers is a bit shortsighted as some of the world’s greatest strikers are not that big (D.Villa and example). Our strikers are good enough, it wasn’t luck that Arshavin scored 4 at anfield.

As SF pointed out over the course of his posts here, its not the goalscoring we have a problem with, its the defensive aspects that needs to be tightened up.

I won’t go mental if we don’t sign a striker but the money would be better spent on a defender or a centre mid.

Lets all enjoy the pre season and see what formation Arsenal will adopt, I suspect Shava and Cesc will be the most two important players for Arsenal this coming season.

    Cheers All!!

  26. i also hav to admit i sometimes wonder about the direction our manager is taking us in,and i hav been frustrated for the last 3 seasons bout the way we buy and sell players its always a drama, why?
wenger has never replaced players like adams, keown, vieira, petit, parlour, platt, etc these are all players wit drive and aggression and i just think he cant identify these traits in a player or maybe he just doesnt rate them (flamini, diarra)
how anybody can say we have strength in depth and wit the addition of ONE mid would possibly make us the strongest squad in PL is beyond me…wot has changed since the CL semi final or last chelsea v game at home where all our weaknesses wer exposed, seriously has some1 got an inside track on how diaby, denilson, walcott, song, bendtner, eboue, djourou, ramsey hav evolved to be able to make impacts in games to match the likes of utd, liverpool, chelsea, city and villa…i think u are all fooling urselves if u believe we can challenge for trophies next season wit dis squad as i cant see wot possibly cud hav changed since 12 weeks ago,and now we hav lost our most physical player which leaves us wit gallas and toure (maybe song and vermaelen) as our players who wil have to shoulder all the physical responsibility in the upcoming season.
i love this team as much as any1 here and thats y i refuse to let blind hope cloud over the facts that are their for all to see, last season we wer out muscled by many lower teams at home and away as wel as the top teams we are competing wit.
in my opinion to seriously contend in any competition this season we need to sign another 3 strong established and experienced players,a target man and TWO central def mids and once we do and the afore mention young arsenal players learn from these players, and more importantly, learn how to win then and only then can any1 say we have strength in depth because all we hav at the mo are like for like replacements for players who dont know how to grab a game bt tht scruff of the neck…theres no inspirational figure who puts himself on the line.
i dont know who these CDMs could be but wenger shud go get kenwyn jones to replace ade…vela, bendtner still not ready and RvP and edus long term fitness are doubts
Come on guys and be real with urselves or else your in for major dissapointment next season

  27. Spanish, Im a WHU supporter first and a football supporter second.-I know i know. i get to see allot of Arsenal football, first team and reserves because my son is part of the acadmey. I love the way you play, but how can you stomuch what Arsene has done to the team since 2005. Where has the electricity gone.

  28. buy cana we need some steel in that midfield song is physcal but not very inteligent denilson is nt physical but reads the game very well his stats prove that.while diaby?????? he just cant play footbal

  29. Does that mean that all the bigger players for Arsenal are either bad central defenders, uninteligent or ??????? just cant play football. What does Denilson very well.

  30. @icehammer
thanks mate and ur objectivity and honesty is refreshing there is a huge reality check needed and i think our loyal fans deserve more…i know ur a hammer but u seem more in tune wit our clubs frailties and short-comings than alot of my fellow gooners and iv been following ur comments and agree wit alot of wot u are sayin and i think as u are neither fan nor hater makes ur opinions more valid than others on this topic…
id just like to say tho that AW is still the man for me its just i dnt believe he can identify our weaknesses and its like iv said before here im sure in training games and one-touch games we look the business and our indidual abilties are different gravy and dats wot he means when he says he believes in these guys…but in these games whos doing the tackling?whos bringing the physicality that chelsea, villa and hull will bring on a saturday afternoon???? chances are nobody… bt if the powers that be wer to erase tackling, jostling and jumping from the game im sure wed win everything…in the last few seasons thats wot our manager has used the oppositions over phsyicality as excuses for dropped points its like hes campaigning for a non contact football just to suit us and this angers me as we wer able to use this and mix this into our game 10 years ago, aswel as sticking to our style of play, and thats y we wer successful…do we now think dat its wrong for ‘inferior’ teams to be able to do the same to us????and do we and our manager think because we hav highlighted and bemoaned teams kicking us that next season they are gonna come to the emirates and not apply this tactic???theyl stop doing it when we get some1 who kicks back like vieira did

  31. I think d problem is nt even DM but a CD. And d right person is hangeeland of fulham while kolo fall into DM position or Song.

  32. @ SF – Could you post highlights of the friendly with SC Columbia please. I feel DM is a must. I feel another defender aswel. Hopefully we can get rid of Silly and Sendy. Thats all though really. I wouldnt complain with a young striker coming in or even a loan striker coming in as we have RVP/Dudu/Arsha/Vela and Bendy.

  33. With the way AW is quiet about a DM i think he wants to move one of our defenders into that position, i agree with you @theicehammer, Toure is an option but whoelse?

  34. There’s to much love for football within me for you to see through me. But if that’s your opinion or judgement of me then….. goodbye. Lets see who Zola has managed to scrape on loan. He he, ha ha.

  35. Arsenal squad is good.Ade has been around for long but we stl haven;t won anythn 4 the last 3 seasons.
Let’s not make Arsenal a one man show like manure and their precious CR7.

We will make it and people who are doubting us will eat humble pie@the end of the season.’Le boss’ knows what hez doing.

  36. I still believe we seriously need a finisher/sniffer, not an offside player. The only finisher of the ball we have is EDUARDO, he can actually sniff as well.FLAMINI and co. took us to the UCL final after VIERA left. Why dont we let SONG do same, just let this guy mature. His speed improved towards the end of the season and this was all he needed. I dont believe he will get slower…I just need him to always be behind the halfway line, not in the 18yard box or anywhere around it trying to support the attack.

  37. Can’t rest on your suppossed laurels … time to make a further investment in a strong MF … Wenger must think so as he lost out on Melo..

  38. SF, I agree with you pretty whole-heartedly about not needing to replace Ade. I do have worries about Liverpool, though. Assuming Mascherano and Alonso don’t go anywhere, they are much improved from last season just based on the fact that they’ll have Torres for the entire season.
Also, I would never want Chelsea to do well, but it would be hilarious if Sturridge had a breakout year and Roque/Tevez/Ade didn’t help City qualify for Europe. Oh the grin I would have.

  39. Icehammer,

Don’t you wish your manager knew how to finish fourth, or fifth, or sixth or …..

And with the help of Freddie Flintoff England stuffed the Aussies. Yes! Yes! Yeeees!

  40. in as much as i believe Adebayor’s exit is good riddance to bad rubish. i think most importantly we need a reliable lethal finisher who is not prone to injuries. not neccesaily a superstar. profesor wenger could still go for Obafemi martins, he wont cost much. or ikechukwu uche from getafe. then Flamini’s return wont be a bad idea. we need a rugged midfielder. with this chelsea and co would bite the grass this season.

  41. Were not strong enough thats simple to see there is no titles coming and tha is plan to see as much as i would love it we have not got it big things need to change at Arsenal football club and are old chairman david den should be brought back look what happened when the real madird broad realised that the needed theres back he opened up doors they could not see he had the backing of investors and good contacts just like are old chair man david den, basically are clubs needs him back along with his billionar invester to take the club out of death as in are new stadium death and then he can have are club why do you think are old david sided with this investor.

  42. The thing is are club needs a world class player in every postion as in the a goalkeeper maybe not a defender as we have got thomas from ajax but defence midfeild most surely to let fabergas play and now with ade shit head gone we need a world class striker if this does not happen after this season we will be looking for a world class manager come on gunner fans speak out!!

  43. icehammer you come on our blog which is understandable because west ham are shit but dont try to take the piss. with regards to wengers quote i dont see how we are as good or better than last season when we have sold one of our main strikers and only bought a defender, wenger must be able to see into the future how can he be sure none of the strikers wont be out injured at any time of the season? there is also the possibility song is going anc in jan so we do need to make a couple more signings asap so wenger get the cheque book out!

  44. forgot to say sf superb, fantastic, wonderful goals on that clip cheers……

  45. I think Wenger is mad, big time madman, i thought he was saying he would love to buy some players, but there was money, now he has money to buy players after sold a player, he is saying he doesn’t think it is necessary aanymore. So it means he is the one that doesn’t want to buy players because of fake players he gather together. He is a looser, him and the board are loosers, they should pack their bag and bagages to leave our club alone, they are bastards

  46. Hello fellow gunners! its such apity Wenger is still adamant about the strenthof the squad. Well he should look at what other squads are likr in the premiership. He should not look at goals allowea last season or goals scored and say we are no different. It will take the purchase of a star striker to replace wastefull ade a hard tackling anchor man in mid field.

We want the premiership nxt season, but we have to be better than man u and chelsea in all areas!

  47. Is moment for Arsene to stop being so cheap.

Look what Lyon did, they sell Benzema for 35m and use all the money and also they put some of their millons to buy Lisandro, Cissokho and another very good midfielder from Lille.

The problem of Arsene is that he has a war chest of 15 + 25 of Adebayor and he will use less than the half. Arsenal dont replace the players well all the time.

Last season we lost Hleb and Arsenal replace him very good using almost all the money of his sell.

So Arsene replace properly Adebayor with a very good striker and not a nobody and also is not hard to find a good DM, u can have Toulalan or Diarra for 15m, Veloso or Inler for 10m, or Cana who is close of sign for Everton for 7m. Or at least buy Hitzelperger who is in sale for 5m or bring back Vieira just as a mentor of Diaby and Song.

But the most probably is that Arsene will get Appiah just because he´s free. You cheap old man

  48. MexicanGunner:

Which striker to you expect Arsenal to splash 25 million on? I think you’re wrong about how hard it is to buy a good DM too, mainly because GOOD DMs aren’t usually on sale for a knockdown price.

With the exception of Inler, I have no doubt that Arsene hasn’t even looked at the DMs you mention above, and I’m pretty thankful for it. Toulalan is unproven and, in my opinion, average and shy. I think the Prem would eat him alive. Then there’s Cana who should move to UFC and Veloso who was being chased by Spurs and Bolton recently. Hardly Champs league winning material.

Arsenal’s pool of strikers eclipse Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool at the moment in terms of depth. Two of those teams have been reliant on one striker for at least the last two seasons, we have 3-6 who could play there.

The thing about Wenger is that he picks his targets meticulously, and if he loses out on them, he usually goes without. It’s because of that that Arsenal don’t usually make mistakes in the transfer market. I’m grateful for that, no matter how frustrating it can be.

  49. enemyairships:

Not exactly a striker of 25mill but theres many good strikers of 16, 17mills and that will let enough money for a good DM.

  50. Truly we need depth in the squad to win trophies. I don’t accept in arsene wenger .Selling adebayor is okay but a suitable replacement should be found.Else our striking department will succumb to injuries at the end of season and fights for fourth as usual.

I am expecting vela to step up and remain injury free along with bendtner

  51. @Mexican – Think of it this way, dont mention VIERA again………do u just write for the sake of it or have u seen the guy play?

There’s MARTINS OBA, theres HUNTELLAR,….then theres SANI KAITA, DELE ADELEYE(Olympic Silver, U21 Silver…loosing out to a MESSI inspired Argentina each time)

  52. it doesnt have van persy goal when when he hit it on the volley from out side the box, that wos a super goal …

  53. GOOD ENOUGHT SQUAD!!!!????? TO WALK BEHIND UTD, LIV’POOL AND CHELSEA. WHEN THE BIG CLUBS DON’T GET TROPHYES THEY REBUILD THE SQUAD. ARSENAL HASN’T WON ANYTHING FOR 4 YEARS…WE HAVE TALENT…TALENT GROWS…WE HAVE/WILL HAVE A GREAT SQUAD…BUT WE LOST 4 YEARS IF NOT MORE!!!

SPLASH THE MONEY WENGER…YOU USED TO BUY VIEIRA, HENRY, PIRES…

NOW U ARE BUYING VERMAELEN, MATUIDI, CHAMAKH… WHERE’S THE POINT…BY THE TIME THEY WILL (IF) BE STARS THEY WILL LEAVE, LIKE LASS DIARRA, ADEBAYOR OR FLAMINI.

USE THE CASH TO BUY PLAYERS LIKE ETO’O, A.YOUNG, HUNTELAAR, CARVALHO, HANGELAND!!!! NOT MATUIDI, CHAMAKH, WHO ARE PLAYERS TO SIGN FOR MIDTABLE CLUBS!!!!!!!!

    ADEBAYOR REPLACEMENT- HUNTELAAR!!!

    DM- M.DIARRA

    CD- HANGELAND, CARVALHO OR MARCHENA

WE LOST THE CHANCES TO SIGN ETO’O, LUCIO…

DON’T SAY WE HAVE A GOOD ENOUGHT SQUAD… I THINK WE HAVE GREAT PLAYERS- ROSICKY, FABREGAS, VP, ARSHAVIN, WALCOTT…

BUT STILL… THE CENTER BACKS HAVE TO BE WORLD CLASS…WHICH GALLAS, TOURE AND SILVESTRE HAVEN’T BEEN LAST SEASON.

A WORLD CLASS STRIKER HAS TO COME.
IF WENGER WILL ARSHAVIN BEHIND VP IT WOULD BE GREAT… BUT A WORLD CLASS STRIKER HAS TO COME AS A JOKER AND REPLACEMENT FOR INJURIES, WITCH ARSENAL HAS A LOT THRUE THE SEASON.

I TRUST IN WENGER AND SAY HE IS THE BEST THING THAT HAPPEND TO ARSENAL!!!!!!!!!! BUT JUST UNTIL 2005…..

I WILL SUPPORT WENGER EVEN IF HE DOESN’T BUY ANYONE… WHAT I SAYD IS JUST MY OPINION NOT A FACT

    WENGER KNOWS…I HOPE SO

  54. I agree with 4-2-3-1 formation. Sell Senderos & Silvestre. Loan Diaby. Buy establish DM like DeRossi or buy back Flamini. By the time Song, Denilson develop into great players, RVP, Eduardo, Arshavin, Toure, … all past their peak.

  55. We need a big squad to deal with heavy schedule, injury & suspension. Song & Denilson are only good for squad players, not 1st team. At least, not yet.

  56. I totally agree with rocknrolljesus. Arsene is still the man but maybe not so confident to splash the cash without David DEin by his side. Since he was bullied out of Arsenal we have been hesitant in the transfer market. Shit – Dein was Arsenal and still loves the club. If he was here we would buy big and be serious title contenders. Come on Arsenal get some pride back and spend the loot. Huntelaar, Scott Parker and Hangelaand – oh and bring Pat back so that the yid scum don’t poach him – he could still do a brilliant job.

  57. johno, we will find it very difficult to finish as high up the table as we did last season. I hope that Zola does not loose his lucky or magic touch. Somehow he must keep the best of the experienced squad together, otherwise we could be doing a Newcastle.

  58. georgetown, im a football supporter who understands the exact position whu are in and yes, it is very difficult to take, although out of respect for others i wouldn’t use your language. Lets keep it clean.

  59. ARSENAL HAVE TO WATCH OUT FOR THE 6 HOME GROWEN PLAYERS IN THE FORMATION RULE.

WE NOW HAVE ONLY 3: CESC, CLICHY, THEO

WE HAVE TO SELL SENDEROS AND GALLAS OR SILVESTRE TO BUY AN ENGLISH STRONG DEFENDER: UPSON, JAGIELKA, LESCOTT, S.TAYLOR, CAMPBELL MAYBE

AND WE HAVE TO LOAN OUT DENILSON OR DIABY AND BUY AN ENGLISH DM OR AN HOLDER ON THE MIDFIELD LIKE PARKER, NOLAN OR PUT TOURE IN THE DM AND BUY ANOTHER ENGLISH CENTER BACK.

OUR NEW STRIKER SHOULD BE HUNTELAAR BUT IF WE LOOK TO ENGLISH UP OUR SQUAD WE SHOULD CONSIDER CROUCH, C.COLE, AGBONLAHOR, D.BENT…

A DON’T LIKE THE IDEA OF BUYING CHAMAKH, MATUIDI AND SAKHO/BASSONG
THEY ARE JUST NOT EXP. ENOUGH TO PLAY ON THE HIGHEST LEVEL.

  60. i believe the squad has very good talents, but most of the players still have a lot to learn. even so, whe finished the league just behind the “big” teams. i Think we should get a good, experienced defensive midfielder, and an expensive striker who ensures goals. i repeat, the current squad is very talented but we are two steps before the big european teams.

  61. Yes.De Rossi is an amazing player. All around player, but no.we are not going to buy him, unfortunatly.he still has 3 more years in Roma and doesn’t want to move.
And yes if we want titles we have to make a transfer and buy someone.A midfielder.Arsenal are in the best league in the world.with players like Bendtner or alex song as starters,we wont go that far folks.

This is not a video game you know that right? its not fifa 09.
you can’t buy whoever you want and whenever you want. Now,we have a certain amount of money. We can’t afford to risk and spend 20-30 million on players.
