Why Lacazette is a perfect signing for Arsenal

Posted on Posted in Archives, Arsenal blog, Arsenal News

Over the past few years, Gunners fans have not been happy. Whether it was about winning matches, their seasonal finish or new signings. This has led the club’s supporters to be split 50/50 about supporting Arsene Wenger. We’ve all seen “Wenger Out” all over the world after a huge bulk of Arsenal fans created many protests outside and inside the ground.

One thing that many fans have been critical of is the quality of signings. Despite the excellent purchase of Alexis Sanchez a few years back, Arsenal have failed to bring players in of similar quality and have not been willing to splash the cash. In the modern game, to get world-class players, you simply must spend big. We very rarely see bargains any more, as clubs demand huge fees to compensate for them losing their best players.

However, after many years, Arsenal have finally brought in a top-notch striker. After years of fans being left frustrated with players like Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck not consistently delivering, The Gunners have bought a perfect candidate that fits everything they have been crying out for. The signing of Lacazette has left Arsenal fans thrilled and filled with optimism for the upcoming season.

Here are 4 reasons why Lacazette is a perfect signing for Arsenal.

Arsenal doing business early

Normally, Arsenal fans expect their manager to leave it right till the wire to bring in players. However, this season it seems that Arsene Wenger has finally learned his lesson, as he’s kick starting business early. Only a few days after the transfer window opened, it was confirmed that the exciting French striker had signed for The Gunners.

This time last year Arsenal didn’t have a squad that was anywhere near strong enough to win the title, with no signings made. The team lacked a true out-and-out striker and only the other centre-back options except Koscielny were the inexperienced Rob Holding and Callum Chambers. By the time Arsene Wenger had made his marquee signings of Mustafi And Lucas Perez, it was too late for the Gunners. Their squad wasn’t built well enough and they weren’t familiar with each other. Their first defeat to Liverpool was the difference on the final day as the club missed their chance to qualify for the Champions League and this was the first time this happened in 20 years.

August is now upon us and Wenger has already added two top quality players to the squad. The arrivals of Lacazette and Kolašinac certainly excited the fans and have added a new level of quality to the team. Arsene Wenger has also stated that doesn’t mean the club are done for the window, as he said there could be one or two more signings in the coming month.

Lacazette is a bargain buy

According to the media, it’s being reported that Arsenal paid around €67m (including €12m in add-ons) for Lacazette. However, this doesn’t look like the case. The chairman and owner of the Frenchman’s former club Lyon, has expressed that the fee of €67m is not what was paid by the Gunners. He has stated that the final fee agreed is between €45m to €50m. Either way, it is a club transfer record for Arsenal, which fans have been begging to get broken for years.

Considering Arsenal have signed a top striker wanted by clubs around the world, they have paid a very fair price. This is comparing to the likes of Manchester United who forked out £75m for Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea who paid £58m for Alvaro Morata.

Proven striker

Alexandre Lacazette has scored 30+ goals in every season he played for Lyon. He has been regularly scoring goals for the club and has shown some impressive skills against big clubs. Wenger was impressed with the consistency Lacazette has managed to maintain over the years. Consistency is something Arsenal have lacked from their strikers, so to have a player that is known for consistency will excite Arsenal fans.

Fans have been constantly asking for the club to sign a world-class striker and their prayers have finally been answered. Lacazette doesn’t only possess quality, he also has brilliant potential as he is 26 years old and is still yet transfer news to enter his prime years.

Lacazette looks set to have a very successful first campaign with the Gunners. It would be very sensible to bet on him being the Premier League’s top goal scorer for 17/18. A reputable site that I use to check the odds for this is:https://www.sunbets.co.uk/sports/betting/Football.

Laca-Ozil combination

ozil

Arsenal have always looked like they needed a goal hungry striker than will be able to get on the end of Ozil’s top quality passing. Having a player like Lacazette will truly display Ozil’s quality in the final third and his ability to carve defences open with his precise passing ability. The combination of Ozil and Lacazette playing in front of him will give Arsenal the edge over other teams.

Over the years, Wenger has tried a lot of different players to play in front of Ozil and feed off him. However, they all have failed to show the true ability and ruthlessness to make the most of Ozil’s skill.

Because of this, Gunners fans are expecting a lot from Lacazette this season, while they will be wanting Ozil to be more consistent than the last couple of seasons.
